Intussusception ?

Miriam CD

-Wall layer is diffusely thickened, specially the muscularis. There's a concrete intestinal part where muscularis is too thick respect the other parts
-There's not an obstruction pattern
-Mesenteric limph nodes are enlarged

Sérgio Damas

In the image, a segment of the small intestine with mucosal thickening is observed, and in the follow-up, another one that suggests intussistion, with increased echogenicity of the mesenteric fat.
Presence of regional ganglion adenopathy.
Distended intestinal loops are observed before the lesion that suggests obstruction.

Filip

There is an additional layer in the intestine, it can be an incidental finding in a young cat, probably Peyer’s patches or lymphoid tissue, no signs of obstruction

Aleks

There are focal parts of the SI with thickened muscularis layer, mesenteric lymphonodes are enlarged, at one loop there is a suspicion of intussusception as multiple layers visible at once, ther is no obstructive pattern at the shown loops

Anita

thank you

May I saw, Dominique, that a similar finding in an older cat would be of concern for an infiltrative process such as lymphoma?

Good question...it surely couldn't be excluded and should be placed in the clinical context and possible other ultrasound changes (i.e. regional lymphadenomegaly). Also, even in young cats, we don't see the Peyer's patches in all of them; could this indicate that they are actively reactive or have been recently reactive? Nobody knows for sure. Hope this help!
